Having tried a few different brands of travel mug with varying success, I decided to give the Bodum mug a go. It's a decent size and will hold around the same amount of liquid as an average mug. The main part of the cup is clear, double wall plastic with a black silicone sleeve so that you can hold it without worrying about your hand slipping. The lid screws on and has a silicone seal to prevent leakage. On the top of the lid is a plastic 'arm' that can be swivelled into place. You can have it cover the drinking hole, which will then be sealed with a small silicone stopper, or out of the way while you drink. It clicks into place and won't move. The outer wall of the cup doesn't get too hot to hold even when it's filled with nearly boiling liquid. A hot drink will stay very hot for a long time once the lid is on and the stopper in place. I have two criticisms to make about this cup though. On top of the lid, to one side, is a tiny hole. I guess this is to prevent pressure build up inside the cup once the lid is screwed on and it serves the purpose well. However, even though the drinking hole is sealed with a stopper when the arm is clicked into place, the tiny steam hole is only covered and not sealed. By design, this will prevent pressure inside the cup, but it also means that if the cup is tipped over, some liquid will escape. The cup is not 100% leak proof. The other issue I have is that this hole often gets clogged, espeically if you're drinking something like hot chocolate. When you try to drink, you have to bear in mind that if this hole is blocked, the liquid can be hard to drink. I find blowing gently into the drinking hole can unblock the tiny vent and make drinking easier. The drinking hole is small and recessed into the lid. If you have a very hot drink in the cup, it can be difficult to control the flow into your mouth. If you put your tongue against the hole and tip the cup, the hot liquid will scald your tongue. If you just have your mouth over the hole and tip the cup, you can have enough hot liquid pour from the cup into your mouth, again scalding you slightly. This is all because you can't see the liquid in the cup while you drink and so it's impossible to guauge properly how far to tip before the liquid leaves the cup. This will make perfect sense when you scald your tongue or lips a few times! :) All in all, for the price, I'm very happy with the cup. The leaking isn't a big issue because the vent hole is tiny and not much liquid will escape if you drop or tip the cup. But, some will. Be careful drinking anything hot from it until you are used to the placement of the drinking hole.

Been using these cups for a few years not and I can’t go back to using any other kind! They hold a good amount but they also keep the contents warm a lot longer. The only downside is they are expensive and you can’t go back to a normal cup afterwards!

The poor quality of these Bodum Joy Cups was something else. Despite them being cheap in their RRP, I honestly feel that they are not even worth close to that. The plastic arrived scuffed and scratched and it looked like this would not stand upto even light daily usage. The transparent cup itself was poorly moulded with visible gaps and as I have already stated, would be a magnet for degradation and deterioration. I find it hard to believe that these would last for any considerable and acceptable period of time. The lid seemed poorly constructed too and I had my doubts about how secure it was. The lid also seemed unfinished, with strands of plastic apparent from where the liquid leave the cup from. Shockingly bad quality. These items were returned poste-haste.

The lid of the mug does not sit snugly on the body, making the mug useless for the stated purpose. Attempts to get a replacement have been unsuccessful. Very disappointed by the item and the consequent after sales service.

Bodum staat altijd voor een mooi ontwerp en kwaliteit is mijn ervaring. Zo ook deze koffiebeker. In mijn geval is de 300ml inhoud niet voldoende gebleken en mag de inhoud naar 500ml bijgesteld. Ik drink cappuccino met opgeschuimde melk en kan de beker door de in de beker vallende schroefdraad slechts voor 2/3 gevuld worden. No es estanco. La descripción del producto es totalmente exacta, pero la taza no es estanca ya que el orificio de ventilación no tiene silicona en su cierre, al igual que el de la boquilla si tiene. El cierre enroscado si es bueno. El café no aguanta más de una hora caliente. El plástico es grueso y no te quema por muy caliente que esté el café.
